Areca PalmThe Areca Palm propagates from seeds and by divisions of suckers. The best time for propagation is spring or early summer.

Dypsis lutescens germinates easily and rapidly from fresh seeds. Pick up the seeds (you can wait intill they fall on the ground themselves) and sow them as soon as possible. They don’t store well. It is not necessary to clean seeds.

You can sow them in a small pod of well drained soil mixed with sand and moist peat and water thoroughly. After sowing keep the soil moist, but not wet. These seeds will germinate easily in warm temperatures with enought light and high humidity. The period of germination is 1-3 months. Later you can pot them in larger pots.

The Areca Palm is also propagates by rooted divisions. When separate suckers, be very carefully, try not to damage the roots.
